Arts & Culture

Main Street Sylva is home to several art galleries and potters and is home of Greening Up The Mountains, an annual arts festival showcasing local artisans of all kinds. Sylva is also home to Concerts on the Creek, a free, family-friendly concert series running every Friday 7-9 pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Outdoor Adventure

Jackson County is the NC Trout Capital, containing 4,600 miles of streams and an annual stocking of 92,800 trout. Fishing is not the only thing these streams offer; including creek tubing, white water rafting, kayaking and canoeing. You will also find miles of hiking trails and public greenways along with mountain biking trails, horseback riding, and more.

Dining & Shopping

Living in Sylva, residents can access chain grocery stores, retail shops, and small local businesses. Downtown Sylva’s Mill Street and Main Street are lined with historic storefronts that house unique shops, book stores, cafes, breweries, and local restaurants.

Education

Students of all ages have the opportunity to learn in greater Sylva. Jackson County Public Schools provide public education for residents in Kindergarten through 12th grade. You will also find two institutes of higher education with nearby Western Carolina University and Southwestern Community College
